“Hello Fear, before you sit down there’s something I need to explain……” by Kirk Franklin.
I believe fear continues to try to stop many Believers from walking into their destiny. I know it continues to try to stop me, especially now that I’m coming closer to getting what God has for me. Fear has caused me to worry about what people may say, when it really shouldn’t matter. God has created me to impact lives and He has given me gifts to do what He has called me to do. He has given all of us gifts to be used for His glory! God has given us wonderful talents that some of us don’t know exist. I, like many others, when stepping out on faith allow fear to grip and hold us back.
At times, I allow fear to overwhelm me. The closer I get to what God has for me the more fear wants to barge in and take residence in my life. Fear says to us You can’t do it! You don’t know how to do it! They want listen to you! They won’t hire you! You don’t have the experience! They won’t accept you! …..and on and on and on and on fear speaks into our minds. Fear is a weapon the enemy uses to attack God’s people.
BUT FEAR HAS NO PLACE IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE!!
I want to do great things for God and I know that I will. I will make a difference in many lives and so will you! However, we can’t make that difference if we’re allowing fear to paralyze us. You can’t impact the lives of others if you’re allowing fear to hold you captive and restrain you. We cannot do great things for God if we keep allowing fear to push us back. Paul told young Timothy in his second letter:
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)
Fear is not from God, not of God. It’s from the enemy. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want anything from Satan. I’m not interested in anything he has to give. Fear makes us afraid to step outside the box, afraid to try new things. Fear puts limitation on us and tells us what we CAN’T do. But we serve a God who can do all things! We serve a God who is limitless! Fear wants us to hide the gifts that God has given us when God gave us these gifts to share with the world! With fear, we doubt our abilities as well as God’s abilities. Fear makes us run from new opportunities, doors which God has opened!
As I said before, fear is not from God. So, what can we do when fear comes knocking at our door? We can remind ourselves of these three principles. Remember:
2 Timothy 1:7. Then, speak it out LOUD because our mouth has power!
Wise words satisfy like a good meal; the right words bring satisfaction.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. (Prov. 18:20-22, NLT)
2. Our help and strength comes from the Lord.
I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! (Psalm 121:1-2, NLT)
3. Our God is more than able and He’s more than enough! Whatever we think we lack, God can make the difference!
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21, AMP)
Sisters, it’s Tuesday and fear wants us to fail today! But don’t listen to him. When fear comes sticking its ugly head in our space, let’s remember these three principles and tell fear,
