MY JOURNEY - MY PASSION

THIS IS WHY I DO WHAT I DO!

I don't know how old she was, but I was given this picture at my family reunion in 2014. I'm so glad I have it!

She had such a beautiful smile. I got my smile from her.

My dad recently told me that my mom was the love of his life. His one and only true love. Wow!

This is the only infant picture of me and it's very ironic that I'm looking the other way.

My grandmother (Mildred) raised me as her own. Growing up, she would go all out for my birthday. I miss her. She's in Heaven.

Rhovonda's Freedom Journey

I have experienced my share of tragedies, heartaches, disappointments. Haven't we all? And many of us have triumphed over those struggles! My journey has been difficult at times; yet I still stand in amazement at how GREAT and POWERFUL my Heavenly Father is. I'm blown away at how He can take a dirty, nobody (which is me!) and make her into His magnificent masterpiece. All glory, power, and honor belongs to my God!

Let me give you a little history. My two brothers and I were very young when our mother was murdered. I was only three, my oldest brother was six, and my younger brother was two. My baby brother and I witnessed her horrific death. The loss of our mother caused us to be separated from each other. My oldest brother and I moved in with my dad and stepmother, while our younger brother moved in with our maternal grandmother. Eventually, my paternal grandmother took me in, and there I stayed until about of year after her death. This was the second death I had witnessed.

My childhood had many challenges. I was physically, sexually and emotionally abused. However, I thank God for the angels He placed in my life. From rejection to neglect, from hardships to heartaches, abuse, drugs, and death, as a little girl I was exposed to them all. As I got older, my promiscuous and drunkard lifestyle covered up my hidden baggage. Inside me abided low self-esteem, insecurities, fear, rage, despair, pain, unforgiveness and a loathsomeness toward myself. I was dying inside.....nevertheless, God came to my rescue!

But here’s the amazing part! By God's grace Christ found me. He freed me! Jesus' blood reached down into the horrible pit I was trapped in and saved me! Christ redeemed me, washed and transformed me into someone new! I'm a new creation! Through His PERFECT love, my Heavenly Father showed me my worth. He showed me my identity, purpose, and position in Him. My Creator and my King adopted me (of all people!) into His glorious family. And now, I stand free! I'm a woman of purpose! I am a mighty woman of God, ignited with a passion to love and serve Him only.

This is why I do what I do: God faithfully comforts and encourages me to keep my eyes on Him. And in return, He has called me to encourage His people (2 Cor. 1:3-7). He has given me the assignment of encouraging His daughters to walk in freedom with Jesus Christ and to build up the youth. As my journey continues, daily, I embrace the freedom Christ gives. I find joy encouraging others to do the same, though this road is not an easy one (not at all!). At times, I mess up majorly. I fall short. I disappoint my Father. But my Savior never gives up on me. He never will!

"Because God has comforted and encouraged me, He has called me to encourage you."

It is my prayer that my writings, my books, my preaching, my teaching and my testimony will draw sisters to the love and forgiveness of our Heavenly Father. My desire is that women and children who have been hurt and who are hurting will look to God for EVERYTHING and know that Jesus is the ANSWER. He gives LIFE and FREEDOM to all who seeks to Him. If we seek Him; we will find Him. For when we do these things, we'll experience joy in God's presence and find delight in His Word. We will be reassured that we are, INDEED, fearfully and wonderfully made and loved by the Creator.
