Our Father Loves Us

“What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we're called children of God!”

(1 John 3:1a MSG)

My Heavenly Father’s love for me causes me smile, cry, and be blown me away. I am so amazed at the indescribable love that the Father has for His children. I’m in awe of His love. Oh, how He loves me. Oh, how He loves you! I wish I could find an extravagant word that could describe God’s love. He loves much. When I think about His love, how He loves us, and how He proves His love for us daily, tears fill my eyes. I have no doubt that the Creator loves me so dearly, and I love Him so much (1 John 4).

Growing up, I needed my earthly father’s love. I wanted it, but I never got it. My Daddy never showed me he loved me and if he did love me, I never saw it, heard it, or knew it. I wanted to be loved by my Daddy, I needed it. It was so important to me and I believe that’s why I craved it so bad. I needed hugs, I needed validation, and I needed love from other people because I did not get those things from my Daddy. I longed to hear my Daddy tell me that he loved me, tell me that he was proud of me, and give me a big hug. Growing up, those words never came out of his mouth until my late thirties (this is when better late than never is so wonderful!!). When my Daddy finally said those words I longed to hear, I was like a kid in a candy shop. I cried like a baby, I wanted to scream, I was relieved, I blushed, and I was so happy.

Hearing my Daddy tell me he love me was like ointment and medicine for my broken soul. Those words were bandages for the wounds and scars that I had for many years, and finally they were being healed. Now, whenever we talk on the phone, he makes it a point to tell me he loves me. Whenever, we see each other, my Daddy gives me a big hug. He tells me he’s proud of my and how smart I am. Now I know he loves me!

Unlike my Daddy, God has been telling me and showing me He loves me since the beginning of time. God has been telling you and showing you that He loves you before you even existed. God adores you! He loves us. We are always on His mind; He’s always thinking about us. Before He created this world, He was thinking about you and me. Oh, how He loves us!

If we want to know how to love, if we’re looking for love, if we want to experience real love, all we have to do is look to the Father. His love is so remarkable, and it’s so good to be loved by Him. He loves us even when we’re wrong (that’s what gets me….my God!). He loves us even when we are a mess (Eph. 2:4: Rom. 5).

It’s Hump Day! Here’s our biblical principle to help us over the hump.

“But God is rich in mercy, and he loved us very much. We were spiritually dead because of all we had done against him. But he gave us new life together with Christ. (You have been saved by God’s grace.)” (Eph. 2:4-5, ERV)

In spite of ourselves, our Father still continues to love us. Now, that’s astounding! During your Quiet Time, read the Fathers Love Manual (The Bible) and bask in His Love.
