Over the weekend we celebrated my daughter's accomplishments. She graduated from high school and will be attending college in the fall. Though there are quite a few people who may not look at graduating from high school as a big accomplishments, I know that it is. So many kids have dropped out of school or some did not live past graduation day. Nevertheless, God saw fit to allow my daughter to walk across the stage and receive her high school diploma, an extremely wonderful blessing.

To celebrate this wonderful occasion, we invited family and friends over. We watched old videos of my daughter, slideshows, and reminisced over her childhood photos. Somberly, I thought to myself, my how the time has passed. She's no longer the baby depending on me to hold her bottle during mealtime. No longer the one year old splashing in the bathtub singing the alphabet song, barely enunciating the words. Those days are no more. Now, she's a high school graduate looking forward to the college life.

Before leaving the party, family members spoke words of wisdom to my daughter. All were meaningful not wanting her to experience nor make the same mistakes they made in the past. The wisest words given were from her Godmother who said, "And should she make those mistakes, should she find herself heading down the wrong path, she can always turn around. She can always get back up and start over. She can recover." Those words are so true.

With God's help, my daughter can recover from whatever life throws her. Should she mess up, get it wrong, make bad decisions that could possibly lead to painful consequences, she will recover. God's power, His faithfulness, grace and mercy will draw her back and place her on the right path. I have no doubt that Kourtney will be fine because God has her in the palm of His hand.

David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 8 And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them? The Lord answered him, Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all." (1 Sam. 30:6, 8, AMP)

My sister, how are you coping with life's hard blows? How are you responding to the bad news you've received? How are you dealing with the aftermath of those wrong decisions you've made? Has the pain from the outcome of you "getting it wrong" have you wallowing in your despair? Well, I have great news for you! God says, "You can recover."

Every believer can recover. God has given us the Holy Spirit whose sole responsibility is to be our helper. Isn't that awesome?! He helps us when we're hurting by comforting us. He helps us when we lose our way by pointing us back to God. He helps us remember God's Word by bringing back to our remembrance those things we've read in the Bible, biblical truths we've learned from our parents, loved ones, Sunday school teachers, pastors, other people and places where the Word of God was taught. The Holy Spirit helps us stay on the right path, convicts us when we stray away, and draws us back to our heavenly Father.

My sister, no matter what circumstances you find yourself in, you will recover. Like David, encourage yourself and inquire of the Lord. I'm praying that we'll always keep God first, remembering that in Him we live, move and have our being (Acts 17:28).

It's Monday.....already! Keep walking in freedom!
