Mercy Prevails

While driving my son to school this morning, I saw light piercing through the dark clouds. It was beautiful and a reflection of how I am feeling. These past few weeks, (actually these few months) have been extremely hard.

Last week I wrote about the transformation God is doing and how Satan is throwing his punches. As a result, I allowed things to become burdensome and stressful on me. I was depressed and not thinking clearly. Feeling overwhelmed, I began talking and behaving irrationally. Basically, I was unglued. My temper was short and bad; seemed like every little thing irritated me.

But today is different. On this day, I feel different. Praise God! I can see a new day dawning. Today, I feel refreshed, light, and hopeful. Has my situation changed? Nope, but my perception about my situation has. Has God answered those particular prayers? No, not yet. But He will soon.

I'm hopeful because regardless of what it looks like, God's mercy is keeping me. In spite of the many foolish complaints I've made to God, my doubts, my out-of-control emotions, the crying and whining I've done, my God's mercy prevails. I'm so grateful and in awe that He doesn't give me what I deserve. And He doesn't condemn you for the wrong you've done. Although He could have. He should have. Neither does He remove His grace and love from us. Instead, He pursues us all the more.

My sister, maybe your life has not been a bed of roses. Then again, maybe it has. Indeed, God sends His rain on the just as well as the unjust (Matt. 5:45b). Yet, come what may, God's infinite mercy is great and so is His faithfulness.

May we cling to the assurance and peace that God's mercy prevails and His truth endures throughout all generations.

"Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endured forever." (Psalm 106:1, NKJV)
