I don’t mean that I am exactly what God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal. But I continue trying to reach it and make it mine. That’s what Christ Jesus wants me to do. It is the reason he made me his. Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me. I keep running hard toward the finish line to get the prize that is mine because God has called me through Christ Jesus to life up there in heaven. (Philippians 3:12-14 ERV)

I’m guilty. I have those days when I want to call it quits. There are times in my life when I want to throw in the towel, and every time I feel like giving up, the Lord encourages me to hang in there a little while longer. He encourages me through His Word. He sends someone to encourage me through word, prayer, or email. He allows me to hear a song that ministers to my soul. God always does something that brings me back to my senses. After He encourages me, He strengthens me. After He strengthens me, He energizes me. After I’m energized, He empowers me to keep moving forward, and to keep encouraging His people.

In today's passage, Paul shares with the Philippian church about his continuous journey of striving to be the man God had called him to be. He encourages us to keep pressing our way no matter how hard it gets. Press forward. Forget those things behind us. Let go of the mistakes, and all the things that went wrong on yesterday, and press toward our future. And let us not forget to enjoy the present by keeping our eyes on our Savior.

My sister, let’s press our way to Jesus daily, making Him first, pleasing Him, and glorify His name.

PRAYER: Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and Your love. Thank You for being real and alive in our lives. Help us to press our way to You no matter what’s going on. Help us to forget our past, forgive ourselves, and begin again. We thank You God for giving us such a beautiful future. In Jesus' name. Amen.
