Choose ye this day

Chapter 26 of the book of Acts gives us an account of the type of man Paul was before being changed by God.

“For a time I thought it was my duty to oppose this Jesus of Nazareth with all my might. Backed with the full authority of the high priests, I threw these believers—I had no idea they were God's people!—into the Jerusalem jail right and left, and whenever it came to a vote, I voted for their execution. I stormed through their meeting places, bullying them into cursing Jesus, a one-man terror obsessed with obliterating these people. And then I started on the towns outside Jerusalem.” (Acts 26:9b-11, MSG)

Then, Paul was converted. God changed his life. Paul’s entire way of thinking changed. His view point changed, the way he lived change, his actions changed, and what he believed in changed.

“I became an obedient believer on the spot. I started preaching this life-change—this radical turn to God and everything it meant in everyday life—right there in Damascus, went on to Jerusalem and the surrounding countryside, and from there to the whole world.” (Acts 26: 19b-20, MSG)

Paul is one example of how God, through Jesus Christ, can change a person’s life. Not only did God change Paul’s life and the lives of others, God changed my life. The things I used to do, I no longer do anymore. My commitment to do things to please the world has changed. I no longer desire to do what the world does, (and I’m not saying that I’m perfect because I am far from that), but my desire and my goal is to please the Lord. Even on those difficult days, I desire to please Him! Because of my conversion, because God has changed me, I’m no longer the same. I live for God, now.

Question: Have you been converted? Have you decided to follow Christ? Have you changed your way of thinking? Your behavior? Have you made a conscious decision to live your life for Christ? Has it become your desire and goal to live a life that pleases God?

If you answered YES to all of these questions, PRAISE GOD!! We shall rise to meet Jesus in the air on that great getting up morning (1Cor. 15:50-58; 1 Thess. 4:13-18)!! For those of you who answered no, not sure, still contemplating, still wondering, still being wishy washy, still straddling the fence, let me leave you with something to think about:

CHOOSE YE THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE.

Will you choose to continue to walk in darkness or will you choose to walk in light (John 12:44-50)? We can’t do both, my friend. I, like Paul (Acts 26:28-29), pray that everyone who reads this devotional will become a follower of Christ!

It’s Wednesday, Hump Day. Here’s a biblical principle to help us get over the hump.

14 “So have respect for the Lord. Serve him. Be completely faithful to him. Throw away the gods your people worshiped east of the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord. 15 But suppose you don’t want to serve him. Then choose for yourselves right now whom you will serve. You can choose the gods your people served east of the Euphrates River. Or you can serve the gods of the Amorites. After all, you are living in their land. But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” (Josh. 24:14-15, NIRV)
