Celebrate Each Step

When you walk, your steps shall not be hampered [your path will be clear and open]; and when you run, you shall not stumble. (Prov. 4:12, AMP)

At the beginning part of the year, I decided to hang a large calendar on my file cabinet at work to help me stay organized. As a new month began, I would rip off the previous month, making it evidently clear that this year is not stopping for anyone. 2017 has zoomed by me so fast. I can’t keep up! Hello October. Goodbye November. Now, I’m staring in the face of day four of December. Wow! There are only twenty-seven days left in this year. Where did this year go?

Many of us started the new year with resolutions, promises, and commitments. We made vows to ourselves and/or to other people. Some of us have made a covenant with God. Have you kept your word? As I thought about the end of the year fast approaching, some things came to mind. Consider the questions below as we enter into the final days of 2017.

How has the year been going? Any plans for ending this year on a high note? Did that new business get up and running? Shed any unwanted pounds? How about that bad habit? Were you able to quit? Did you have a chance to read that new book or write your first novel? Did you keep your commitment to reading your Bible and praying more? What about church? Did you finally join? How do you want to end this year and enter a new year?

Although we are less than a month away from a brand new year, the good news is it’s not too late to begin. If you haven’t done what you wanted to do, go ahead and get started. Take the first step.

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance–and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.” – Oprah Winfrey

You have time to start working on your business plan. It’s not too late to enroll in school. There is still time to mend that broken relationship. It is never, in any way, too late to take small steps toward a better you. Just simply start.

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one.”― Mark Twain

As the year comes to an end, reflect on what you have accomplished. Oftentimes, we overlook great achievements because we think their insignificant. Don’t focus on what you didn’t or couldn’t do; look at what you’ve done! Celebrate those milestones. Maybe it wasn’t a huge step, in your opinion, but it was a step no doubt. And let me say that I’m very proud of you and what you’ve accomplished. I am excited about your future!

My sister, the year is not over yet! Give glory to God for giving us another day to begin again and take small steps forward in the right directions.

A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure. (Prov. 16:9, AMP)

Let’s walk in freedom, together!
