A Perfect Church

church

I believe in a perfect church here on earth, a place where no one feels left out, and all are welcomed. With one voice, everyone worships God the Father, Jesus Christ, the Son, through the Holy Spirit. Altogether we sing praises to God, worshiping His majesty. It’s a perfect church where there are no big I’s and little you’s, but we do it all in the name of the Lord and in love.

I believe in a perfect church like the one in Acts 4. A church where the message of Jesus is shared boldly and courageously to all who hear. There’s fellowship, love, and peace among brothers and sisters. A place where the Pastor is led by God and is given the vision for his church (Prov. 29:18). He, in turns, gives his vision to the congregation, and they get it done because they have a mind to work (Neh. 4:6). It’s a perfect church where all needs are met. There’s no lack. People give unselfishly to the poor, to the homeless, the widow, orphans, and the sick (Acts 2:45; Acts 4:34-35).

I still believe in a perfect church that’s built upon the solid rock of our Savior. Where the Word of God is preached and explained, and the Spirit is moving. The Holy Spirit is not hindered or grieved, but moves freely touching the hearts and minds of the people (Eph. 4:30-32). As He moves, He cleans, revives, and makes hearts new. Yes, I do believe in a perfect church.

“But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.” (Col. 3:14, NKJV)

Here on earth, you and I are the church. Believers are the perfect church when we have the mind of Christ. He was selfless and a meek servant, compassionate, patience, and forgiving. Christ was (and still is) a faithful friend. Being about the Father’s business, Jesus was not persuaded by this world, yet, influenced by God’s love and grace. Like Him, we ought to be.

We must be like Christ in order to be that perfect church. We must see the good in everyone. Be peaceable, long-suffering, forgiving, encouraging, merciful, and loving towards each other (Col. 3:12-17). We are the perfect church shining our lights bright for the entire world to see (Matt. 5:14). And that light will draw others to Christ.

My sister, I believe in a perfect church and I want to be that perfect church. Do you?

“Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 2:1-4 NKJV)
