Love Eternal

When I received those beautiful red roses from my husband, I gratefully placed them in a pretty red vase with water. That deep red tone from the flowers almost looked artificial. They were so beautiful, but I knew the beauty wouldn’t last long! I’m horrible at taking care of plants and flowers; I never had a green thumb, but proudly, I displayed my red roses on the buffet in the dining room. Each day as I passed by the dining room, I notice how my beautiful flowers were beginning to wither! What once stood elegant and tall in that red vase now looked frail and dull. The green leaves and red petals were now fading and dry, falling to the floor. My beautiful roses were dying.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 8:38-39, NLT)

The world’s idea of love is artificial and temporary. It’s not eternal. It comes and goes. The world’s love has no depth, no foundation, no commitment, and no guarantees. One day, the love is new and beautiful, promising to last forever, but quickly the world’s love dies. We’re such fickle people. Sometimes, we love by the way we feel. For example, you may do something to me today that may cause my love for you on tomorrow to change. Like those roses, within a few days, the love that was once deep and lasting, could soon wither and fade away. On the contrary, God’s love is eternal. It’s not artificial nor for the moment. His love has no limits and no boundaries. Jesus’ death at the cross is the foundation of God’s love for us. Thereby displaying depth, a commitment, a promise, and assurance to us. “He brought me to the banqueting house, And his banner over me was love.” (Song of Sol. 2:4, NKJV).

“And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-LORD-Is-My-Banner…..” (Ex. 17:15, NKJV)

We’re children of God, His beloved. He loves us and His amazing love has become our banner. A banner waves over us, to covers, protects, and comforts us. It’s so good to be loved by the King. When was the last time you showed your love for the Master? When was the last time you showered God with your love? When was the last time someone saw Jesus’ love in you?

Sisters, we can shower our love on God by being intimate with Him, spending time with Him and accepting basking in His love. We can share Jesus with others by showing kindness, patience and forgiveness toward others.

Happy Valentines! Tell someone you love them, and let them know they’re loved by our Magnificent Creator.

Prayer: Father, I love you. You mean everything to me. I’m blown away by Your special love. I appreciate Your love that daily covers me. Thank You, Father, for loving me.
